Yes, did you know? I woke up this morning to not only see that nominations were in from Black Girls Who Write, but that I was also nominated. I'm more grateful that this was not just about me though. It was about me recognizing how when God closes one door, he opens a window. I have learned not to turn my lip up at the window. I have learned to hop up and climb through it because there are blessings on the other side. I have learned thank God for the window period!
Now that I have gotten that out of the way, the book that was selected under the Holiday Romance release category was When it Snows in Miami for Christmas.
I remember the day this book went live, an avid reader I had never engaged nor one who had never read my work to my knowledge said, "It doesn't snow in Miami and definitely not at Christmas!" Let me tell you! She had set me up to not only promote my book, but she also created room for me to share my work at a local library she works at in South Florida. There I was able to connect with more readers not on social media and some who are now my avid readers today.
Then to add more joy to the story, this holiday urban romance was a spin off from The One Who Got Away: A Miami Love Affair. To date, this remains as my best selling series with over 100 hundred reviews for part one. I even went on to write a spin off that includes the children in Home for the Holidays: Loving a Project Girl. That was my first independent release and will forever hold a special place in my heart.
All of this proved to me that staying in the race means staying in the race was worth it! That is because of you, the readers, bloggers, reviewers and fellow authors!
On that note, please go vote! It is my hope that you vote for me when you do.
